The purpose of The Farrant Fund is to support the activities of MagSoc (the St Margaret’s Society of Queens'). The initial capital of the Fund (£100,000) was raised by donation.

MagSoc was founded in 1884 and continues to flourish as the College's student-led music society. It provides high quality and exciting musical opportunities, including a symphony orchestra, the largest non-audition chorus in Cambridge, a recital series, concerts at the University Concert Hall and other musical activities in Queens’ such as jazz or musical theatre.

The Fund is named in honour of the donor, Mr Stephen Farrant (1956). Through The Friends of Aliki Vatikioti for Music & The Arts, Stephen has been a generous benefactor of music at the College.

The annual income from Fund is used to provide grants to support all of MagSoc's activities on the recommendation and approval of the Senior Treasurer of MagSoc or another designated Fellow.
