Congratulations to
Dr Ella McPherson and
Professor Marie Edmonds
on their recent achievements

Dr Ella McPherson

Dr Ella McPherson

Dr Ella McPherson, Anthony L. Lyster Fellow in Sociology, and Cambridge’s Digital Verification Corps (DVC) have won the 2020 Technology-Enabled Learning Prize from Cambridge University Press.  The Cambridge DVC is a project Ella runs with a group of students, in collaboration with DVCs at six partner universities, to discover and verify digital evidence for Amnesty International. The students are trained in open source investigation skills to evaluate online evidence of human rights abuses, which allows them to support Amnesty and other human rights groups in their work.

Professor Marie Edmonds, Ron Oxburgh Fellow in Earth Sciences and Vice President of Queens', has been awarded The Joanne Simpson Medal for Mid-Career Scientists from the American Geophysical Union (AGU) in their 2020 Honours. The Medal recognises outstanding achievement and contribution to the Earth and Space Sciences Community.
