QES & Melete Entrepreneurship Competitions
Registration for both the Queens' Entrepreneurship Society prize competition & the Melete Scholarships for Social Innovation opens on Monday 23rd January. The deadline to register is Thursday 23rd February 2023. A full timeline for the competition can be found below.
The prize can be used to support activities that lead to tangible outcomes. This includes foundation activities such as those related to analysis and research (e.g., market analysis through surveys with well-documented market needs), creating a proof of concept (e.g., minimum viable product - MVP), software packages, and equipment required to create or manage the business. The prize can also finance consultancy activities (e.g., law-related consultancy) and any other activity related to business as long as it corresponds to what the team describes in their business plan.
Although no direct salary can be paid from the prize to team members, they can use the prize to support their living expenses in Cambridge (e.g., accommodation, food, basic necessities), as long as that is well justified and their presence in Cambridge supported by the prize leads to tangible outcomes.

More information, in addition to the competition rules, can be found here.
The QES competition prizes are generously funded by Qun Yang (2019), Founder of Biorbyt, and Richard Hargreaves (1964), a Cambridge Angel and entrepreneur. The Melete Scholarships for sustainable innovation are generously funded and pioneered by Sir John Chisholm (1965) & Lady Kitty Chisholm.
Successful applicants will be awarded prizes of £5,000 to develop their business idea against clearly defined goals.
Queens' Entrepreneurship Society is kindly sponsored by Biorbyt.
