Prof Julia Gog receives her OBE
Awarded at a ceremony in Cambridge on 15th November 2021
The Investitures Ceremony was held at Great St Mary's Church, Cambridge on Monday 15th November where Professor Julia Gog OBE, David N. Moore Fellow in Mathematics, was awarded her OBE medal.
Julia was recognised in the Birthday Honours List in 2020 for her services to Academia and the Covid-19 response. As one of the leading experts in mathematical modelling to help control the spread of infectious diseases, Julia is part of the the group SPI-M who provide expertise advice on pandemic modelling to the Department of Health and Social Care. Her work on SAGE (Scientific Advisory Group for Emergencies) and has helped to save many lives during the pandemic.
There to preside over the ceremony and present the medal was the Lord-Lieutenant of Cambridgeshire, Mrs Julie Spence OBE QPM. Others who also attended included the Mayor of Cambridge, Councillor Russ McPherson, Mrs Anna El-Erian, and Dr Robin Walker, and the High Sheriff of Cambridgeshire, Mrs Caroline Bewes, who read out Julia's citation.
